21-Day Sugar Detox (21DSD)

So starting on Saturday (consequently the same day we move :/) I am starting a 21-Day Sugar Detox.  I like to think that sugar (in any forms, whether it be carbs, refined sugar, or natural sugar) and I have a healthy relationship, but we don’t. As much as I like to ignore the fact that I am a sugar-aholic, I can’t anymore.For some they go for salty things, like chips or fries, me, I can’t turn down cake! Sugar releases an opiate-like response in your brain which causes it to become addictive. Sugar activates those “pleasure sensors” that make you feel good when you eat it, hence why so many people can’t give it up. We just “feel good” eating it. But the reality is, it causes unnecessary weight gain, fatigue, insomnia, headaches, tooth decay, diabetes, blood sugar spikes, the list goes on. So, to get me back on track, I’m doing this detox. Each week I’ll post my meal plan, for those of you who are interested. I’ll also be blogging about my experience with it. I don’t think many of you actually will care about my withdrawals from sugar :D, but it will help keep me on track.

Here is my first weeks Meal-Plan.

Week One (December 1st-7th)

Breakfast Lunch Dinner Snack/Drinks
Saturday 3 scrambled eggs, homemade salsa, sauerkraut, ½ C sweet potatoes, 16oz of coffee with cream Bone Broth with veggies (shredded carrots, zucchini, cabbage, and ½ cup cubed sweet potatoes) with shredded chicken, Turkey burger with guacamole and raw cheddar cheese, wrapped in lettuce with tomatoes and onion, ½ C sweet potatoes ½ C granny-smith apple sauce, hard-boiled eggs, nuts, veggies with guac, kombucha, sauerkraut, cinnamon cookies (sweetener free), lemon/lime water
Sunday Same as yesterday Lettuce tacos (ground beef, raw cheddar cheese, tomatoes, avocado), ½ C sweet potatoes Roasted chicken, brussel sprouts, sweet potatoes, carrots and onions Same
Monday ½ C Acorn squash, Green smoothie, sauerkraut, 16oz of coffee with cream Leftover roasted chicken with salad and lemon vinaigrette and ½ C beets Chicken fajitas with guac Same
Tuesday Quiche with spinach onion and bacon, 16oz of coffee with cream, ½ C sweet potatoes Leftover Chicken fajitas Mustard smothered Pork Chops with salad and vinaigrette, ½ C sweet potatoes Same
Wednesday Same as yesterday Bone broth soup (same as Monday) with shredded pork Shrimp Ceviche Same

**Since I am still breastfeeding, there are some modifications that I had to make to the standard program (Which I can’t tell you what it is since this is a program you pay for, but you can purchase  for $21 on their site if you’re interested!)
