Cloth Diapers are the “new old thing.” I always wanted to do cloth diapers when I had kids. Lot’s of people discouraged me from doing it saying “it’s not worth it” or “it’s to time consuming” or “it’s a lot of work.” Well, I wish I hadn’t listened to them for the first three months of Zoey’s life, because it has been one of the best decisions we made, and one of the best investments. So here’s the top six reasons I decided to cloth diaper.
6. I already do laundry, what’s another load? Yep, cloth diapers it is.
5. No running out of diapers. Yep, cloth diapers it is.
4.They potty train sooner. Yep, cloth diapers it is.
3. No weird chemicals, and considerably less plastic exposure. Yep, cloth diapers it is.
2. 5 diapers a day. 150 diapers a month. 1800 diapers a year. More than 4500 diapers before each child is potty trained. That’s 4500 (per kid) of plastic diaper waste that sits in a land fill. Yep, cloth diapers it is.
1. $.25 a diaper. 5 diapers a day. $38 a month. $450 a year. More than $1000 by the time potty training comes around (per kid), I would spend on something I throw away. I save more than $800 dollars (per kid). That’s if I bought new CD’s each time. Yep, cloth diapers it is.
I ultimately (about a month of research!) decided on gDiapers for Zoey. They work fantastic. Better than disposable.
In future posts on “why i cloth diaper,” I’ll tell you why I chose gDiapers, I’ll show you my routine, and give you fun facts on cloth diapering. But for now, bon voyage!
