I’ve always dreamed of having my own restaurant, of serving people great food, of knowing I am making a difference. I don’t know that I will ever get there, but if I don’t start somewhere, I know for sure I’ll never get there. That’s why I started this blog. They say that those who can’t do, write…but I don’t think that’s true. I’m no one special, by any stretch of the imagination, but I know what my passions are, and I want to share them with the world.
I’ve often been called hippie-momma, dirty-hippie, “so” granola, tree-hugger, etc. I do what I can for my family, my friends, animals, other people, and the environment, but I’m not some crazy fanatic, I’m not weird, I’m just me (although I do where tie-dye).
I post 2-3 times a week. I simply share my knowledge and research. I share my heart for health. I share my recipes. I share my home. My philosophy is:stay as close to nature as possible. No, this is not some strange thing where you sit on the ground and chant and let “nature” speak to you…but it is a simple principle that I try to live by, in every choice that I make. For instance, I use the least amount of chemicals possible when cleaning. I try to use products that contain all natural ingredients, not some synthetic property made in a laboratory. We do not eat anything “sugar-free” or “low-fat” unless they are naturally. I avoid GMO’s. I buy organic when it’s available. We buy local meats, dairy and vegetables. I try to use paper or glass, instead of plastic as much as possible. I limit the types of medicines we take. I recycle and compost. I walk when I can (not as much as I would like, but I do live in Washington).
We eat a grain-free diet, free of processed foods and sugars. Perfect for those living Paleo/Primal, dairy-free, gluten-free, or just wanting to eat healthier and more eco-conscious. I hope you find this blog helpful, and feel free to leave me suggestions on things to post about, recipes you would like me to come up with, or just how this blog helps! We’re all in it together!
